I concentrated on developing Windows desktop applications for years, first as a consultant, then as co-founder of an ISV startup in San Francisco. For me, designing products is as much fun as writing the code.

I'm always on the lookout for the Next Big Thing. It led me to web application development starting in 1997. I found a natural outlet for my long-time interest in typography and design.

At my next startup, I learned how to build high availability web systems from the ground up. I was focused on delivering a great user experience above all else, but I spent many hours in the data center too.

These days I am trying to understand where the mobile computing revolution is taking us: somewhere we can't anticipate yet, I'm sure.
